How does it work | Pros and Cons | Quality and Convenience | Cost | Customer Service | Treatments | Other ED Offers
Almost every guy reaches a point where they need to start looking into sexual or reproductive health products to help enhance their intimate experiences. However, this can be challenging and inundating, especially if you’ve never had to deal with it before.
Roman is a remote men’s health service that focuses on providing treatments and prescriptions for a multitude of men’s health problems, such as erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, or hair loss. They even offer services for mental health or general daily health, such as allergies.
This all sounds pretty great, right? But is it too good to be true? We’ll answer these questions and more in this in-depth review of Roman.
How Does Roman Work?
Roman is a virtual men’s health service that offers a number of features that focus on men’s health. However, there is a large emphasis on sexual health, including diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, genital herpes, and cold sores.
One of the most attractive features of Roman is that every condition comes with a personal online visit from a licensed physician. This helps to let you focus on only the problem at hand while also speaking to a specialist in the given field. It eliminates some of the awkwardness of asking your family physician highly personal questions about sexual health.
After your virtual visit, you’ll hear back from the doctor within 24 hours with a personalized treatment plan. In the meantime, you have access to unlimited follow-up messages with your physician in case any questions come up throughout the process.
And if medication is recommended, you have the option to have it packed and shipped through the Ro Pharmacy Network, which is Roman’s online pharmacy that claims to offer low prices on medications without the need for insurance. We’ll talk a little more about Ro Pharmacy specifically later on.
Essentially, Roman acts as a mediator between you and healthcare providers. They don’t actually have “Roman” healthcare providers that work specifically at the company. Rather, they’ll connect you with another physician, help with pricing and access to treatments, as well as work with you to address any concerns.
Roman: Pros & Cons
On paper, Roman is a powerful tool for men’s health. And there are a few advantages to this program.
Pros:
- Roman offers a wide range of services from sexual health to mental health, making it all-encompassing for many men.
- It eliminates humiliation by offering virtual consultations instead of in-person visits, especially for sensitive subjects such as sexual wellness.
- You don’t need in-person visits to get care or medication.
- You can utilize monthly subscriptions to ensure that your medication is always refilled on time.
Unfortunately, Roman may come with more potential drawbacks than it’s really worth.
Cons:
- Supply issues make it so that some medications never get delivered.
- Roman’s medications are often more expensive compared to alternatives or insurance.
- Roman acts as a “middleman” between you and a healthcare provider. This can make communication confusing and also put you at risk of seeing a healthcare provider that you don’t trust.
- Customer service is unresponsive, and there is no apparent number to reach them. You can only email.
- Roman doesn’t offer nearly as many medications as conditions in which they claim to treat.
If you’re thinking about giving Roman a try, let’s dive in and talk more about each of these attributes so you can make a better decision about a men’s health service that’s right for you.
Quality and Convenience
Perhaps the greatest benefit of Roman is that it addresses a problem associated with men’s health. Masculinity and the fear of being perceived as “weak” causes a disproportionate number of men to avoid seeking treatment for both physical and mental health conditions.
Roman addresses this by allowing men to access care online from the comfort of their own homes without ever needing to make an in-person visit.
Roman also offers treatments for an extensive variety of conditions ranging from sexual health to hair loss, from mental health to general health. This makes it an all-encompassing service that can prove to be very useful for men who might be too afraid to visit an in-person physician.
However, one of the most prominent issues with Roman seems to be the fact that you may never actually get the treatment you’re paying for in the first place. Roman has a Better Business Bureau Rating of 1.5 stars out of 5, with most customers complaining about never even receiving medications and treatments that they had already paid for.
Additionally, keep in mind that the providers through Roman are third-party physicians that work with Roman. Because of that, you never really know how the quality of your virtual visit will be. You’d need to look into separate reviews about your specific physician to understand the breadth of care that you might be in for.
While Roman’s model of acting as a middleman between you and a healthcare provider works well on paper, it can also cause a lot of communication problems. This is because you never really get to speak directly to a provider — Roman works with them instead. And although this can alleviate some stress on your end, it can also cause some stress when they get things wrong.
Cost
Roman claims to offer low prices compared to insurance companies. A benefit is that your initial consultation and unlimited follow-up appointments are completely free. However, you’re responsible for treatment costs as well as a $15 fee when you meet with a healthcare professional.
This is affordable and accessible, at least on paper. The problem is that Roman gouges prices to a large extent, making it one of the largest reasons why customers have been unhappy with the program.
Since Roman is known for its offerings of erectile dysfunction pills, we took a look at the price of Viagra through Ro Pharmacy – the online network where Roman sources its medications. 100 mg of Viagra through Ro costs $70 without insurance. However, the same dosage costs just a fraction through a selection of other providers you can find on USARx.com.
Plus, if you have health insurance, you’re almost guaranteed to pay less for your prescription medications than you would through Ro Pharmacy. The only reason you might have for paying a little bit extra on your pills through Roman is to take advantage of their free 2-day shipping.
But that brings up yet another problem. Due to supply chain issues through Ro Pharmacy, many customers have reported not receiving their medication on time – if at all. This can be frustrating, but it can also be detrimental to your health if you’re reliant on any of these medications for your wellbeing.
Assuming you do receive your medications on time, Roman does offer the ability to auto-refill your prescriptions on a monthly basis so you never run out.
Customer Service
Customer service is necessary for a service like Roman, especially when it seems like shipping and pricing issues can have an effect on the quality of service. However, Roman’s customer service also doesn’t seem to fit the bill.
For starters, we had trouble even finding a section on their website where we could contact them. You need to scroll all the way to the bottom and find it hidden among over 30 hyperlinks in the footer. And once you finally find it, you can only contact them via email. There is no apparent phone number where you can contact them for urgent or time-sensitive matters.
It also seems like they are not responsive through this email service, either. We reached out to them to ask them a general question on a Wednesday morning, and 48 hours later, we never received a response from them.
Treatments Offered
While it seems like Roman falls flat in a number of ways, one way that it excels is its vast number of treatments and conditions treated. It’s pretty impressive to have a single place where men can find some help and relief for sexual health, mental health, hair loss, and heart health all in one fell swoop.
However, they don’t really offer as many medications as they probably should. Their website lists over 21 conditions that Roman can treat, though there are only 11 medications listed. This means that you may not have access to specific medications through Ro Pharmacy that you might require.
On the bright side, Roman does offer a high variety of different dosing options for each medication. You can buy individual doses, mid-sized doses, or large doses depending on you and your doctor’s needs. This actually sets it apart from many other competitors who usually offer streamlined or singular dosing options.
Also, offering so many treatments may be one of the reasons why the quality of care is underwhelming for a number of customers. We think that the company might be trying to do too much by offering mental health services, hair loss treatments, and more rather than just sticking with sexual health and dysfunction.

Roman: In Review
Roman is a virtual men’s health service that focuses on providing sexual health care and treatment for men who are looking to take advantage of their low prices and ease of access to care. However, the service is not without a fair share of flaws.
Medications seem to be inconsistent in that they rarely arrive on time and are almost always priced higher than competitors. Not to mention, the customer service team is unresponsive and the service doesn’t offer as many medications as conditions treated.
All in all, while Roman is a step in the right direction to help address a growing problem for men’s physical and mental health, there are competitor services that might be better suited to your needs.
But since Roman offers a free trial consultation, you don’t really have anything to lose if you really feel like giving it a go.
